New Delhi: In a significant move to strengthen healthcare services in the National Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation for a modern Outpatient Department (OPD) building at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS). The new facility aims to provide thousands of citizens with faster, organized, and high-quality medical care. CM Gupta emphasized that the government’s mission is to ensure quality healthcare reaches every resident of Delhi.

IHBAS Equipped with Advanced Technology and World-Class Facilities

CM Gupta highlighted that IHBAS is being developed with state-of-the-art machines and world-class infrastructure, positioning it as a leading mental health center in Delhi. The institution is expected to reach new heights in mental healthcare, offering patients access to modern treatment methods and specialized services.

Benefits for East Delhi and the Entire NCR Region

The Chief Minister also announced plans to strengthen GTB Hospital’s 1,500-bed capacity by resuming construction on previously unfinished buildings from earlier administrations. With these new facilities, millions of people from East Delhi and the entire NCR region will receive better, faster, and quality treatment. These initiatives are expected to make Delhi’s healthcare system even more robust.

Long-Overdue Need for a Modern OPD Building

CM Gupta noted that the growing number of patients at IHBAS has long necessitated a modern OPD building. The new facility will reduce long waiting times and make the diagnosis and treatment process more organized and efficient, significantly improving the patient experience in mental health care.

IHBAS Set to Become a Top Mental Health Institute in India

The event was attended by dignitaries including Manoj Tiwari (MP, Northeast Delhi), Cabinet Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, and MLA Sanjay Goyal. MP Tiwari remarked that the upgraded IHBAS center will soon be among the top two or three mental health institutions in India. He also highlighted significant investments in mental healthcare made in collaboration with the central government and the Finance Ministry, positioning IHBAS as the largest mental health hub in North India.

MP Manoj Tiwari Appeals for Public Support

MP Tiwari urged Delhi residents to give the government two to three years to fully implement these healthcare improvements. He assured that within the stipulated time, the transformation in Delhi’s healthcare system will be visible and comprehensive, eliminating the need for repeated questions or complaints.

Empowering Delhi’s Healthcare for the Future

With the modern OPD building at IHBAS and upgrades at GTB Hospital, Delhi is taking a major step toward accessible, efficient, and high-quality healthcare for its citizens. These projects reflect the government’s commitment to mental health, patient convenience, and the overall strengthening of Delhi’s medical infrastructure.
