New Delhi: The Delhi Economic Survey 2025–26 presented by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has provided a clear picture of the capital’s dynamic and rapidly growing economy. With a projected Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of ₹13,27,055 crore and a growth rate of 9.42%, the survey underscores Delhi’s strong economic fundamentals. The historic ₹1,00,000 crore budget and ₹59,300 crore allocation for development projects highlight the government’s commitment to service, governance, and sustainable growth.
Delhi’s Economy Shows Impressive Growth
The survey reflects not only rapid economic expansion but also improvements across infrastructure, healthcare, and transportation. Delhi is emerging as a model for a fast-developing, service-oriented economy, setting benchmarks in per capita income and revenue generation.
Per Capita Income and GSDP Growth
According to the survey, Delhi’s per capita income is expected to rise to ₹5,31,610 in 2025-26, marking a 7.92% increase compared to the previous year, almost 2.5 times the national average.
Delhi’s GSDP is projected to reach ₹13,27,055 crore, reflecting a 9.42% growth rate, signaling strong economic momentum.
Revenue Surplus and Tax Collection
The Delhi government anticipates a revenue surplus of ₹9,661.31 crore, equivalent to 0.73% of GSDP for the fiscal year. Additionally, tax collection is targeted to increase by 15.54%, underlining the city’s enhanced fiscal capacity.

Historic ₹1 Lakh Crore Budget for Development
The 2025-26 budget marks a historic milestone with a total outlay of ₹1,00,000 crore, including ₹59,300 crore dedicated to development projects, significantly higher than last year’s ₹39,000 crore allocation.

- Transport: 20% of the budget
- Social Security and Welfare: 17%
- Water Supply and Sanitation: 15%

Transportation and Infrastructure Upgrades
Electric Mobility
The capital has significantly expanded electric bus services, from 2,150 buses in April 2025 to 4,338 by March 2026. Currently, 6,100 buses operate in the city, marking Delhi as a leader in green transportation initiatives.
Delhi Metro and Daily Commute
The Delhi Metro continues to serve as the city’s backbone, transporting an average of 6.7 million passengers daily, facilitating smooth urban mobility.
Power and Renewable Energy
Electricity demand has grown from 5,846 MW to 8,442 MW over the past decade. Delhi’s renewable energy capacity reached 509 MW by January 2026, reflecting the government’s push toward sustainable energy solutions.
Healthcare and Social Security Initiatives
Healthcare Expansion
As of December 2025, government hospital beds in Delhi increased to 15,659, providing 2.84 beds per 1,000 residents, ensuring better healthcare access.
Social Welfare Programs
- Senior Citizen Pension: Citizens above 70 years receive ₹2,500 monthly, benefiting 4.4 lakh seniors.
- Support for Women: Around 4.09 lakh women received financial assistance.
- Public Distribution System (PDS): Over 72.21 lakh people are served through 1,953 PDS outlets, including free provisions of 35 kg grains and 1 kg sugar per month under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana.
Industry and Inflation Trends
The industrial sector continues to be dominated by manufacturing, contributing ₹50,144 crore to the Gross State Value Added (GSVA). Meanwhile, inflation has modestly impacted consumers, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for industrial workers rising from 132.5 in 2024 to 139.4 in 2025, marking a 4.9% increase.
