With the addition of these 25 new canteens, the total number of Atal Canteens in Delhi has risen to 71, which will now serve approximately 50,000 people daily, a significant increase from the earlier 26,000. Scheme Aims to Support Workers and the Needy

The Atal Canteen initiative is a part of the government’s efforts to ensure that no one goes to bed hungry in Delhi. The scheme targets workers, laborers, and other low-income groups, providing them with meals at a minimal cost. It also aims to make nutritious food accessible to a large section of the city’s population.

Key Figures Attend Inauguration Ceremony

The inauguration ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Vinay Kumar Saxena, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, and Central State Minister Mr. Harsh Malhotra. Urban Development Minister Mr. Ashish Sood also participated in the event and highlighted the continued expansion of the initiative to provide essential food services to the public.

Atal Canteens: A Symbol of Respect for Workers

In his speech, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized that the Atal Canteens serve as a tribute to the hardworking individuals who contribute to building Delhi. She praised the scheme’s ability to offer not just a meal but also respect and dignity to those who often go unnoticed in society.

Expansion of Atal Canteens: A Steady Commitment to Change

Central Minister Harsh Malhotra expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in Delhi over the past year, saying, “Delhi has begun to transform, with better facilities like electricity connections, water pipelines, and solutions to sewerage issues.” He highlighted that the Atal Canteen scheme not only provides food but also ensures that individuals are treated with dignity.

Previous Success: Over 14.5 Lakh Meals Served

The Atal Canteen initiative has already made a significant impact, having served over 14.58 lakh meals to date. With the expansion of 25 more canteens, it is expected to cater to 50,000 individuals daily. The program continues to be a lifeline for Delhi’s workers, ensuring that they have access to healthy and affordable meals.

A Bold Vision for a Hunger-Free Delhi

The Delhi government, under the guidance of Mr. Narendra Modi and inspired by the late Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, is committed to opening 100 Atal Canteens in the city. This vision will further strengthen the food security network in Delhi, ensuring that anyone in need can receive a nutritious meal at a nominal cost.

Key Takeaways: Atal Canteens Serve as a Model for the Nation

The launch of these new canteens marks a crucial step in addressing hunger and poverty in Delhi. It’s a model of social responsibility and government intervention aimed at making nutritious food accessible to the working class. The expansion of the scheme is a significant milestone in the Delhi government’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens, particularly those who contribute the most but receive the least in return.
