DMRC Signs MoU with Bharat Taxi to Launch Integrated Last-Mile Connectivity Across NCR Metro Stations

Bike taxis, autos and cabs to be digitally integrated with Delhi Metro through Sarthi app for seamless, affordable and eco-friendly urban mobility

New Delhi: In a major step towards enhancing passenger convenience and strengthening sustainable urban transport, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce integrated last-mile connectivity (LMC) services from metro stations across the National Capital Region (NCR). The initiative aims to provide seamless end-to-end mobility for commuters while promoting environment-friendly transport solutions and addressing air pollution concerns in the capital.

Aligned with the vision of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), the programme focuses on improving first- and last-mile connectivity, a critical component of efficient public transport systems. By integrating organised mobility services with metro operations, DMRC seeks to reduce dependence on private vehicles and encourage the use of shared and green transport options.

MoU Signed with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative

To operationalise the initiative, DMRC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sahkar Taxi Cooperative Ltd (STCL), a multi-state cooperative society and mobility service provider that operates the “Bharat Taxi” platform. Bharat Taxi is an initiative of the Ministry of Cooperation and is designed to promote cooperative-based economic models while ensuring transparency, reliability and affordability in mobility services.

Under this collaboration, a range of organised last-mile services—including bike taxis, auto-rickshaws and cab services—will be integrated with DMRC’s metro network. These services will operate on an aggregator or marketplace model and will initially be introduced at 10 identified metro stations across the NCR.

Pilot Project to Begin at Two Metro Stations

As part of the pilot phase, dedicated bike taxi services will be launched at Millennium City Centre and Botanical Garden metro stations by January 31, 2026. The pilot will help DMRC assess commuter response, operational feasibility and overall service effectiveness. Based on feedback and performance, the initiative will be gradually scaled up to additional metro stations across the region.

Digital Integration for Door-to-Door Travel

A key highlight of the initiative is its strong digital backbone. The Bharat Taxi mobile application, available on both Android and iOS platforms, will be integrated with DMRC’s existing Sarthi app. This integration will allow commuters to plan, book and access metro and last-mile connectivity services through a single digital interface.

Through the unified platform, passengers will be able to view available last-mile options at metro stations, check fare estimates, track vehicles in real time and complete their journeys with greater ease. The digital framework is expected to significantly reduce waiting times, improve transparency and enhance overall service reliability.

Affordable Fares and Passenger-Friendly Measures

Fare rates for the integrated last-mile services will remain competitive with existing market offerings. While peak-hour pricing may be applicable, DMRC has ensured that fare surges during high-demand periods will be capped to protect passenger interests and maintain affordability.

To promote awareness and ease of use, DMRC will also install clear signages at metro stations. These will highlight the availability of last-mile connectivity services, booking procedures and designated service locations, helping commuters make informed travel choices.

Boost to Sustainable Urban Mobility

The integrated last-mile connectivity initiative is closely aligned with DMRC’s broader commitment to sustainable and passenger-centric urban transport. By strengthening first- and last-mile access and encouraging shared mobility, the programme is expected to contribute to lower vehicular emissions, reduced traffic congestion and improved air quality across the NCR.

With this move, DMRC aims to reinforce its role as the backbone of modern urban mobility, while supporting national goals related to sustainability, digital innovation and cooperative development.

About DMRC

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is a joint venture of the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. Since its inception, DMRC has played a transformative role in shaping urban transport in the NCR by providing safe, reliable, efficient and environmentally friendly metro rail services, setting benchmarks in project execution and sustainable mobility in India.
