Dr. Deepak Tripathi Takes Addl Charge as Director (Projects) at RITES Ltd – Know More About Him

New Delhi: State-run engineering consultancy firm RITES Ltd announced a key leadership change today, with former IRSME (Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers) officer Dr. Deepak Tripathi assuming the additional charge of Director (Projects).

Dr. Tripathi, who currently serves as Director (Technical) on the company’s Board, takes over the role following the relinquishment of charge by Arun Kumar Singh, effective May 5, 2025.

The change comes in accordance with a formal order issued by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.

An accomplished technocrat, Dr. Tripathi is an ex-IRSME officer of the 1990 batch. A graduate in Mechanical Engineering, he holds a Ph.D. and Postgraduate qualifications from IIM-Mumbai, specializing in Operations and Quality Management. His appointment reflects RITES Ltd’s focus on strategic continuity and synergy between technical and project execution domains.

With over 30 years of experience across Indian Railways (IR), Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), and now RITES Ltd, Dr. Tripathi has earned recognition for leading transformational initiatives in railway operations, infrastructure development, technology integration, quality assurance, and international business.

As Director (Technical), Dr. Tripathi currently heads critical verticals including Exports & International Business, Quality Assurance & Business Transformation, O&M Projects, Ropeways, and Technology/Digitalization initiatives. His dual role is expected to streamline coordination between RITES’ technical innovation pipeline and project execution strategies, driving infrastructure excellence across domestic and global engagements.

Dr. Tripathi’s vast career spans strategic positions in Indian Railways and KRCL, where he led high-impact projects including:

  • Modernization of Rolling Stock and Locomotive Infrastructure
  • Implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Execution of multimodal logistics and international rail consultancy projects

His accolades include:

  • Minister of Railways Award for Outstanding Services
  • Best Innovative Idea Award for a patented Way-Side Rolling Stock Condition Monitoring System
  • Outstanding Author Award by Emerald Publications, UK
  • Lal Bahadur Shastri Award for his book “Smart Lean Management”

He has also been nominated for the Eminent Engineer Award by the Engineering Council of India and received Presidential Awards for promoting the official language in public service.
