Dr. S.V.S. Narayana Murty has been assigned the additional charge of Director (Finance) on an interim basis at MIDHANI following the retirement of Gown Sankara Rao Naramsetti as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) with effect from June 1, 2025. The Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, approved this arrangement on June 3, 2025, allowing Dr. Murty to hold the position for three months or until a regular incumbent assumes charge, whichever is earlier.

Currently serving as Chairman and Managing Director of MIDHANI, Dr. Narayana Murty holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, a Master of Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, and a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from IIT Bombay. He also completed post-doctoral research at the Steel Research Centre, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan, between 2003 and 2006.
Dr. Murty began his career in 1993 at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Trivandrum, contributing to the development of ultrahigh-strength steels, titanium alloys, superalloys, and aluminium alloys. Prior to joining MIDHANI, he worked at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), ISRO, focusing on indigenization and supply of critical materials for India’s space program.
His appointment comes at a critical time as MIDHANI continues to play a key role in producing strategic materials for India’s aerospace, defence, and nuclear sectors.
