Drone Destination, India’s largest drone pilot training and drone-as-a-service company, has announced a strategic partnership with the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) to set up a drone training centre. This initiative aims to enhance the ecosystem by providing specialized training, skill development, and employment generation in the drone technology sector.
The new training centre will be established at the National Science and Technology Council in Delhi. It will focus primarily on the digital agriculture sector, offering expertise in survey, mapping, and monitoring, as well as disaster management mitigation.
Founded in 2019, Drone Destination has been at the forefront of equipping aspiring pilots with safety and efficiency skills. The training programs offered at the new centre will be introduced across all NSIC technical skill centres, ensuring widespread access to cutting-edge drone technology education.
The collaboration comes amidst a rapidly growing drone ecosystem in India, which has seen significant funding and consolidation activities. Notably, drone manufacturer IdeaForge acquired a stake in Bengaluru-based spacetech startup GalaxEye Space for INR 8.28 Cr. Additionally, Tamil Nadu-based drone startup Yali Aerospace received investment from SaaS giant Zoho, and Gurugram-based agritech startup BharatRohan raised $2.3 Mn (INR 19.2 Cr) in a pre-IPO round.
The Indian drone market, expected to reach $13 billion by 2030, is growing at a CAGR of 21% between 2022 and 2030, according to Inc42’s 2023 report. This partnership between Drone Destination and NSIC is poised to play a crucial role in the sector’s expansion, particularly in digital agriculture and disaster management.
