New Delhi: Engineers India Limited (EIL) has successfully delivered a landmark project for Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) by developing India’s first and largest underground LPG storage cavern in Mangalore, Karnataka.

India’s Largest LPG Storage Cavern

The rock cavern, constructed within the premises of HPCL’s existing LPG plant, has a massive capacity of 80,000 metric tonnes (MT), making it the biggest single LPG storage facility of its kind in the country. What makes this achievement remarkable is its innovative underground design, carved beneath existing surface infrastructure. This dual-use land model optimizes space and sets a new benchmark for the oil and gas sector.
