Mumbai: Mumbai hosted the 19th International Fire Safety Conference 2025 on September 25, organised by the Institution of Fire Engineers, bringing together a wide spectrum of professionals dedicated to fire safety and emergency management.
The event witnessed participation from fire professionals, serving and retired police officers, emergency service officials, representatives from public sector undertakings, state fire organisations, the Mumbai Fire Brigade, and eminent voices from academia, media, and international emergency services.
A key highlight of the conference was the keynote address delivered by O.P. Singh, a 1983 batch IPS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre and former Director General of Police (DGP), who is widely recognised for his contributions to policing and disaster management in India. In his address, Singh spoke on the theme of technological advancements in fire prevention. He underlined the urgent need to integrate drones and digital monitoring solutions in modern fire safety systems, not only to enhance response time but also to ensure greater precision in operations.

Singh also emphasised the importance of capacity building within fire services, highlighting training and preparedness as crucial pillars for strengthening safety measures. Equally significant, he stressed on community outreach, urging authorities and institutions to build awareness among citizens so that fire prevention becomes a shared responsibility.
The conference served as a platform to exchange global best practices, foster innovation, and encourage collaboration among stakeholders. With Singh’s vision-oriented address setting the tone, the event underscored the vital role of technology and community in shaping the future of fire safety.
