A night of relentless rain and sudden cloudbursts in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has caused flash floods across multiple locations. Dr. PM Dhakate (2002 batch, Uttarakhand Cadre) shared a post on social media, urging people to remain cautious and avoid riverbeds or streams until water levels recede.

A Timely Caution for Public Safety

In his post, the IFS officer highlighted the dangers of venturing near overflowing rivers and streams during this extreme weather. He advised people to stay indoors whenever possible and to follow the instructions of local authorities to ensure safety.

The post reads:

“Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has seen relentless rain and cloudbursts overnight, causing flash floods in multiple spots. Please be extra cautious. For your safety, do not go near any riverbeds or streams. It’s vital to stay clear of these areas until the water recedes. Let’s all look out for one another and stay safe. Follow the advice of local officials and stay indoors if you can. Local administration, SDRF and Police officials are on ground zero carrying out rescue and rehabilitation operations.”

Even as heavy rainfall continued, the local administration, SDRF, and police teams were deployed across affected areas. These officials are working round the clock on rescue and rehabilitation, helping people trapped by sudden flooding. Their swift action underscores the urgency of the situation.
