Raipur: Arun Prasad P, a 2006-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer and Member Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Environment Conservation Board, has submitted his resignation from service, citing personal reasons. His resignation is currently under process and awaits final approval from the Central Government.
Though the official reason cited is personal, there is widespread speculation that Mr Prasad is set to transition into the private sector, where he is expected to take up a senior advisory role in a major company.
Resignation Pending Central Government Approval
According to sources in the state’s environment department, Arun Prasad’s resignation has not yet been formally accepted. The Chhattisgarh government must first recommend his resignation, after which the file will be sent to the Central Government for final approval. Until that process is completed, he remains in his post.

A native of Tamil Nadu, Arun Prasad is a Chief Conservator of Forests (CCF) – level officer. Over the course of his career, he has held key forest and administrative positions across Chhattisgarh. His work as Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) in Dantewada and Rajnandgaon was noted for forest conservation efforts in Naxal-affected areas.
