Varanasi: Reinforcing its commitment to sustainable urban growth and clean energy access, GAIL (India) Limited has achieved a major milestone in the holy city of Varanasi. The PSU has successfully connected the 100th Commercial PNG (Piped Natural Gas) consumer, marking a century of cleaner fuel empowerment for local businesses.

Expanding Clean Fuel Access in the City
The latest PNG connection expands affordable and eco-friendly energy access to Varanasi’s commercial establishments. This move is in line with GAIL’s broader mission to promote the adoption of natural gas in both residential and commercial sectors, reducing dependence on conventional fuels and cutting down emissions.
Simultaneously, GAIL has taken another significant step toward green mobility by commissioning its 40th CNG station in the city. The new facility ensures increased availability of Compressed Natural Gas for public and private transport, offering a cleaner and cost-effective alternative for Varanasi’s growing population.
Boosting Sustainable Urban Infrastructure

Together, these achievements underscore GAIL’s focused efforts to build a robust and inclusive natural gas infrastructure. By expanding the reach of PNG and CNG networks, GAIL is enabling a seamless transition to cleaner fuels—supporting India’s net-zero ambitions while directly improving air quality and public health in Varanasi.
These milestones come at a time when the city is undergoing rapid urban transformation, and access to green energy has become integral to its future. GAIL’s initiatives offer long-term environmental and economic benefits, reaffirming its role as a key enabler of sustainable development in urban India.
