New Delhi: Gaurav Dahiya, a 2010-batch IAS officer of the Gujarat cadre, who secured the 76th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination, has been granted compulsory retirement by the government, according to the source.
Dahiya, who holds an MBBS degree from AIIMS, Delhi, has served in several administrative positions in Gujarat. His career, however, later became associated with a series of personal and administrative controversies, including allegations concerning a second marriage and claims of a “honey trap”.
From AIIMS to the Civil Services
Dahiya is originally from Gurugram, Haryana. He completed his MBBS from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, in 2007.

After completing his medical education, he appeared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and secured All India Rank 76. He subsequently joined the Indian Administrative Service as a 2010-batch Gujarat-cadre officer.
Administrative Career in Gujarat
During his career, Dahiya held several positions in the Gujarat administration.
He served as Mission Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) and worked as District Development Officer (DDO) in Banaskantha and Patan districts.
He later served as Additional Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar.
What Was the Second Marriage Controversy?
Dahiya came under scrutiny after a woman from Delhi accused him of marrying her in 2018 without divorcing his first wife.
According to the woman’s allegations, the marriage took place on February 28, 2018, in Tirupati, and the two also had a daughter.
The allegations led the Gujarat government to constitute a high-level committee to examine the matter. Based on the inquiry report, the state government suspended Dahiya in August 2019.
Dahiya Denied the Allegations
Dahiya denied that he had entered into a second marriage. His stated position was that he had been in a relationship with the woman and alleged that he had been honey-trapped and blackmailed.
He remained under suspension for an extended period before being reinstated in 2023, after which he was posted in Gandhinagar.
Compulsory Retirement
The source reports that Dahiya’s service record was subsequently reviewed by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), following which the government decided to grant him compulsory retirement.
The action comes after years of controversy surrounding the officer, including the allegations relating to his personal life and the disciplinary proceedings that followed.
