On February 19th, in the presence of state Environment, Forest & Climate Change Minister Mama Natung and NTCA IGF Dr. Amit Mallick, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the government of Arunachal Pradesh and the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) with the objective of raising, arming and deploying a Special Tiger Protection Force (STPF) for all three tiger reserves in the state.
This program took place in the presence of PCCF P Subramanyam, PCCF (Wildlife & CWLW) N Tam, and the field directors/DFOs of all three tiger reserves of Arunachal Pradesh.
Gracing the opportunity, Mr. Natung lauded the sincerity and commitment shown by the state government in finalising the arrangements for raising the force in coordination with the central government. He also expressed gratitude for the support extended to the cause of conservation in Arunachal Pradesh.
Dr. Mallick said, “The STPF would help the state in effective conservation of its pristine tiger habitats and the rich cultural heritage associated with it.”
