Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai performed the Bhoomi Pujan of development works worth Rs 66.84 crore in Kharsia, Raigarh district. The projects include the construction of a railway overbridge that will significantly ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the region. Along with this, he announced additional development works worth more than Rs 20 crore to further enhance civic infrastructure in Kharsia.
Key announcements for Kharsia’s development
At the event, Mr. Sai announced Rs 10 crore for constructing a bypass road from Kabir Chowk to Dabhra Road, Rs 2 crore for repairing sports facilities including the sports complex and swimming pool, and Rs 8 crore for other development works in Kharsia Municipality. He also declared that a technical survey will be conducted for the construction of a new railway underbridge.
Honouring Atal Bihari Vajpayee
The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and inaugurated the Atal Complex. He highlighted that the progress of Chhattisgarh lies in empowering farmers, women and youth, who are at the centre of the state’s development strategy.
Rural growth through Atal Digital Seva Kendras
Mr. Sai underlined the role of Atal Digital Seva Kendras in expanding rural access to government and banking services. Currently functional in 1460 panchayats, the scheme will be extended to 4000 panchayats in the silver jubilee year, bringing digital governance closer to villages.
Welfare measures for farmers and women
Highlighting the government’s welfare measures, Mr. Sai said that 70 lakh women are receiving Rs 1000 monthly assistance under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana. Farmers are benefitting with Rs 3100 per quintal in paddy procurement. The tendu leaf collectors’ rate has been increased from Rs 4000 to Rs 5500, while landless agricultural laborers are being provided Rs 10,000 annually.
Railway overbridge to transform traffic management
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Arun Saw stated that the Rs 64.94 crore railway overbridge will resolve the long-standing issue of traffic delays caused by frequent train movement. Once completed, it will ensure smooth passage and save valuable time for residents.
Strong fiscal push for farmers and housing
Finance Minister Mr. O.P. Choudhary informed that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Chhattisgarh has accelerated its development pace in the last 20 months. He noted that Rs 3716 crore has been distributed as bonuses to 13 lakh farmers, and 18 lakh families have been sanctioned houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Commitment to good governance
Mr. Sai reiterated his government’s focus on good governance and a corruption-free administration. Referring to the ongoing CBI investigation in the Chhattisgarh PSC scam, he assured that all avenues of corruption are being systematically closed to ensure transparency.
