This is the second time in three months when a civil servant from Karnataka is leaving the public administration to join a political party. After K Annamalai, who is an ex-IPS officer in Karnataka, joined the BJP in Tamil Nadu, Sashikanth Senthil has now joined hands with the Congress after resigning as an IAS officer last year on 6 September 2019.

On Sunday 8 November, Senthil announced that he will be joining the Congress party as he tweeted, “I would like to inform all that I have decided to join the Congress party in my effort to continue the fight. I have been an activist trying to be a voice for the less privileged all through my life, wherever I was, and would continue the same until my last breath.”
