Gujarat has firmly positioned itself as one of India’s leading investment destinations, attracting USD 69 billion in Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and contributing 27% to India’s exports, said Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendra Patel.
The Chief Minister was addressing diplomats, ambassadors, and Heads of Missions from nearly 45 countries in Delhi while promoting the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRC). The event underscored Gujarat’s role as a global investment hub, building on the legacy of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit initiated in 2003 under the vision of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.
Connectivity and industrial ecosystem as Gujarat’s strengths
Highlighting the state’s robust infrastructure, Mr. Patel noted that Gujarat has the country’s longest coastline, 49 ports, and a multimodal transport network under PM Gati Shakti, making it a logistics and export powerhouse. Gujarat contributes 18% to India’s industrial output and is steadily transforming into a hub for new-age industries beyond its traditional commercial identity.
VGRC to drive regional and inclusive growth
The Chief Minister explained that the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences aim to expand the success of the Global Summit across all regions of the state. The initiative is designed to empower MSMEs, promote balanced regional development, and integrate local aspirations with global opportunities.
The theme of VGRC, ‘Regional Aspirations, Global Ambitions,’ reflects Gujarat’s commitment to inclusive, innovative, and sustainable growth. Mr. Patel invited the international community to collaborate with Gujarat in trade, investment, technology, and cultural exchange through these conferences.
MEA highlights national vision alignment
Mr. Sudhakar Dalela (1989-batch IFS officer), Secretary of the Economic Relations Division, Ministry of External Affairs, emphasised that the VGRCs will serve as a vital platform to showcase regional strengths, foster grassroots development, and align local goals with the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Gujarat @2047.
First VGRC scheduled in Mehsana
The Gujarat government has announced that four regional conferences will be held across the state, with the first set to take place in Mehsana for the North Gujarat region on October 9–10. These conferences are expected to create new pathways for investment, innovation, and international collaboration.
