The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classified the Himalayan wolf (Canis lupus chanco) as ‘vulnerable’ in its Red List of Threatened Species in 2023. Wildlife specialists have been voicing for stronger conservation measures for this majestic animal after considering various constraints and conflicts in their habitat.
The Himalayan Wolves are found lurking in the snowy vertices of India, Nepal and the Tibetan Plateau of Western China. IUCN report stresses that only 2,275 to 3,792 individuals of the Himalayan wolf are left in the wilderness, calling for immediate measures.
