In a strong push to position Jharkhand as a unique and emerging tourist destination, the state’s Tourism Minister Mr. Sudivya Kumar has invited travelers from across India and around the world to discover the “unexplored beauty” of the tribal heartland. Speaking at a series of cultural and promotional events held in Ranchi on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Minister emphasized Jharkhand’s rich natural, cultural, and religious heritage.

A Pioneering Leap: Jharkhand Launches Mining Tourism
Mr. Kumar highlighted a groundbreaking initiative of the Jharkhand government—mining tourism—which aims to offer educational and experiential insights into the mining industry. This innovative concept has been launched through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on July 21 between the Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC) and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL).
This initiative reflected the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren and his cabinet and is an effort to blend education with tourism while also acknowledging Jharkhand’s industrial heritage.
A Call to Explore Cultural, Religious, and Natural Attractions
Beyond mining tourism, Jharkhand is also home to a diverse range of attractions including tribal culture, sacred sites, lush forests, and serene waterfalls. Mr. Kumar encouraged both domestic and international tourists to explore Jharkhand’s varied tourism circuit—from ancient temples to dense wildlife sanctuaries—each offering a unique window into the state’s identity.
Tourism as a Tool for Inclusive Development
With a strong focus on sustainable and inclusive tourism, Mr. Kumar expressed confidence that the state’s tourism sector will act as a catalyst for economic development and community empowerment. “By inviting the world to Jharkhand, we are also creating new livelihood opportunities for our local communities,” he said.
Government’s Strategic Vision for Tourism Growth
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren, the state is actively working to diversify tourism offerings and create robust infrastructure to support long-term visitor engagement. Collaborative efforts with central public sector units like CCL mark a strategic step in integrating industry with tourism.
