Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that in the present era, electricity is as vital as air and water. He expressed pride that Madhya Pradesh is meeting the electricity needs of its people, industries, and farmers while also contributing to the national grid. The metro rail in New Delhi is being powered by electricity generated in Madhya Pradesh.
Dr. Yadav assured that the state is planning for long-term energy security, ensuring no shortage of power till 2047 and maintaining a surplus in the energy sector. He emphasised that all available resources are being used for power generation while also expanding clean energy initiatives. Notably, solar energy capacity in Madhya Pradesh has grown by 30 percent in the last 11 years.
The Chief Minister was addressing 1,060 newly appointed employees of six state power companies at the appointment letter and felicitation ceremony held in Sweet Bhawan. He inaugurated the programme by lighting a lamp and was welcomed with a medicinal plant.
Over 51,000 New Posts to be Filled in Power Companies
Dr. Yadav announced that more than 51,000 new posts will be filled in state power companies, boosting employment and strengthening the energy sector. He highlighted that farmers will receive a subsidy worth Rs. 20,267 crore this year, while Rs. 6,445 crore has already been provided to over one crore families.
The government is promoting the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, and Sancho has become the first solar city in Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, solar pumps are being distributed to 32 lakh farmers to encourage renewable energy use. The Public Health Department has also started generating its own electricity, reflecting the growing decentralisation of energy production.
Dr. Yadav stressed that these measures will not only support industries but also ensure Madhya Pradesh becomes a leading state in energy innovation and management.
Exhibition and Recognition of Power Sector Achievements
During the event, Dr. Yadav inaugurated an exhibition showcasing the achievements of state power companies. He also interacted with representatives of power employees’ organisations and handed over appointment letters to the newly recruited employees. A short film on the state’s progress in the energy sector was screened.
The Energy Minister felicitated Dr. Yadav with a turban, Ang Vastram, and a citation for approving over 51,000 posts in power companies, a historic step in strengthening the sector. Families of newly appointed employees also attended the event, adding a personal touch to the ceremony.
A New Lifeline for Power Companies
Energy Minister Mr. Pradyut Singh Tomar remarked that the recruitment drive has given a “new lease of life” to state power companies. He emphasised that farmers will now receive electricity for irrigation during the day instead of night, making farming easier. He also underlined the need for continued investments in infrastructure.
Rapid Innovations in the Energy Sector
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy, Mr. Neeraj Mandloi, a 1993-batch IAS officer, congratulated the newly appointed employees and said that the recruitment of 51,700 permanent posts across six energy companies would set new benchmarks in the Indian energy sector. He highlighted the department’s commitment to meeting the growing power demand while innovating in both solar and traditional energy.
The event was attended by Mayor Ms. Malti Rai, MLA Mr. Rameshwar Sharma, and MP Power Management Company MD Mr. Mavinash Lavania, along with senior officials and employees.
