Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has announced that Madhya Pradesh is rapidly emerging as a major hub of renewable energy in India. The state is attracting multinational companies committed to green energy, with many firms showing keen interest in setting up their manufacturing units. Dr. Yadav assured that the government will extend all possible support to promote research and innovations aimed at delivering affordable electricity to farmers, industries, and the general public through solar and other renewable sources.
Global Partnerships for Sustainable Energy Transition
Dr. Yadav shared this vision during a meeting with Sekka Climate Foundation Vice President Mr. Clay Stranger, Ms. Seema Paul, and University of California Berkeley’s India Energy and Climate Center (IECC) Senior Advisor Mr. Mohit Bhargava at the ministry. The discussions highlighted areas of cooperation and reinforced a shared commitment to building a clean and sustainable future.
MoU with MANIT Bhopal and UC Berkeley
Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Manu Shrivastava informed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Department of New and Renewable Energy and Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal in collaboration with the University of California Berkeley. Under this initiative, the Center for Mission on Energy Transition (CMET) was inaugurated at MANIT to focus on India’s future energy needs.
Driving Research, Policy, and Industrial Collaboration
MANIT Director Mr. K.K. Shukla stated that the CMET will play a pivotal role in bridging academic research, policy-making, and industrial needs. The center will provide data-driven strategies for policymakers, promote innovations in grid stability, energy storage, and demand-side management, while also enabling global knowledge exchange and training workshops. Representatives of global energy sector organizations including GIZ, CEW, WRI, CMIS, and Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation also joined the program.
Phased Renewable Energy Expansion in Madhya Pradesh
Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Energy Development Corporation Limited, Mr. Aman Bir Singh Bains, emphasized that the MoU will help in implementing the state’s renewable energy mission in a phased manner. With continuous global cooperation and government support, Madhya Pradesh is positioning itself as a leader in clean energy transition and sustainable development.
