Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday conducted a comprehensive review of the Cabinet Secretariat Department and the Vigilance Department at Sankalp, located at 1 Anne Marg, issuing key directives to ensure transparency, efficiency, and accountability in governance. The meeting, held with senior officials, aimed at strengthening administrative functioning and accelerating the implementation of government schemes.

Focus on Efficiency and Anti-Corruption Measures

During the review, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat and Vigilance Department, Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, delivered a detailed presentation outlining the progress, current priorities, and operational challenges of both departments.

The Chief Minister emphasized that both departments must execute their responsibilities effectively and swiftly, aligning with the government’s priority of delivering development with justice. CM Kumar lauded the Vigilance Department for its “effective, sensitive, and dynamic role” in tackling corruption across the state.

“Our aim is to make Bihar a corruption-free state through a strict zero-tolerance policy,” the Chief Minister said. He stressed that all welfare and development schemes should be implemented with transparency and good governance so that the benefits reach ordinary citizens quickly and directly.

Upcoming Bihar Assembly Session from December 1 to 5

Meanwhile, the inaugural session of the newly elected Bihar Legislative Assembly has been scheduled for December 1–5. According to the official press release:

  • December 1, 2025: Oath-taking ceremony for newly elected MLAs
  • December 2, 2025: Election of the Speaker of the Bihar Legislative Assembly

The session marks the beginning of a new legislative term after a historic electoral mandate.

NDA’s Landslide Victory in 2025 Bihar Assembly Elections

The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections—widely viewed as a crucial test for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar—resulted in a massive mandate for the ruling NDA. The alliance won 202 out of 243 seats, securing a three-fourths majority in the state assembly. This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-seat mark, previously achieving the feat in 2010 with 206 seats.

The opposition Mahagathbandhan was reduced to just 35 seats, marking one of its weakest performances in recent state electoral history. Analysts noted that Nitish Kumar’s political influence and governance approach continued to shape Bihar’s political landscape even after two decades at the helm.

A Push Toward Transparent and Accountable Governance

With the start of the new legislative term and fresh administrative reviews underway, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reiterated his government’s commitment to good governance, citizen welfare, and a corruption-free Bihar. The renewed focus on transparency and institutional accountability is expected to shape the state’s governance agenda in the coming years.
