Now, the total number of cheetah in India is 18. All are in Kuno National Park.

The new additions follow a series of blows in efforts to reintroduce the species to the country after 70 years of its extinction.

Referring to the success of PM Narendra Modi’s Project Cheetah, Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav shared a video on social media platform X, in which all the cheetah cubs are visible. Posting this video, he wrote, “Kuno National Park has welcomed three new members. These cubs were born to Namibian cheetah Asha.”

Mr Yadav congratulated all the experts and officials of Kuno Wildlife involved in Project Cheetah. Earlier in March 2023, a female cheetah named Jwala had given birth to four cubs, but only one of them survived. That leopard was also brought to Kuno National Park from Namibia.
