The keel-laying ceremony took place at GRSE’s shipyard in Kolkata, marking progress in one of the company’s largest commercial ship orders.

About the GRSE Third Heavy-Lift MPV Project

This vessel is part of a series of ships ordered by the German maritime company Carsten Rehder Schiffsmakler and Reederei GmbH. Each ship in the series is designed to:

  • Carry heavy and large cargo.
  • Serve multiple cargo types using advanced handling systems.
  • Operate in challenging sea conditions, especially in northern Europe.

The MPVs are built with strong, ice-strengthened hulls and powerful handling equipment — enabling them to transport complex and sizable loads efficiently.

The contract reinforces the partnership between India’s GRSE and the German maritime firm. GRSE’s performance in the first two vessels and now the third vessel’s keel-laying reflects its ability to meet global standards and delivery schedules.
