Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel carried out an on-site inspection on Monday to review the progress of several key development projects in Vadnagar, a city celebrated for its rich archaeological and historical heritage. The visit highlighted the state government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure while preserving Vadnagar’s cultural legacy.
Multi-Modal Transport Hub: A Game-Changer for Vadnagar’s Connectivity
The centerpiece of the visit was the inspection of the multi-modal transport hub being constructed opposite Vadnagar railway station. Designed to serve as a crucial link between the railway station and major city attractions, the project is valued at approximately Rs 17 crore.
Chief Minister Patel instructed officials from both the Railways and the Gujarat Tourism Department to ensure seamless coordination and integration, emphasizing the importance of timely completion without compromising quality. The hub will provide amenities such as ample parking space, rest areas, a cafeteria, and will feature the plantation of over 2,000 trees to enhance the environment.
Development Under the Heritage Circuit Initiative
The project forms part of the broader Swadesh Darshan Yojana’s Heritage Circuit, which aims to develop Vadnagar’s notable heritage sites including Sharmishtha Lake, Tana Riri Park, Lateri Stepwell, Ambaji Kotha Lake, the Railway Station area, and the Fort Wall. These efforts are expected to boost tourism and provide a better experience for visitors and locals alike.

During the inspection, Tourism Secretary Dr. Rajendra Kumar provided a detailed briefing on the current progress of the multi-modal transport hub project. The Chief Minister also directed officials to maintain stringent quality standards throughout the construction and development phases.

MLA K K Patel, Tourism and Devasthan Department Secretary Rajender Kumar, Tourism Commissioner Prabhav Joshi, Secretary of the Pavitra Yatra Development Board Ramesh Merja, District Collector S K Prajapati, District Development Officer Dr. Hasrat Jasmine, along with various officers from the Tourism Department, were present during the visit.
