Gandhinagar: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the National Mineral Conclave at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, calling it a crucial platform for charting a roadmap for India’s mining sector and building a “New India”. The three-day event, organized by the Ministry of Mines, Government of India, brings together mining ministers from various states, senior officials, and industry representatives to discuss reforms, technology, sustainability, and future policy directions for the sector.
Mining Sector: Backbone of India’s Economy
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel emphasized that mining and minerals form the backbone of India’s industries and economic growth. He said the conclave provides a platform for collective dialogue and practical solutions to strengthen the sector. The Chief Minister highlighted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat, the mining sector has benefited from clear policies, strong political will, and transparent governance, contributing to India’s industrial and economic self-reliance.

Gujarat’s Leadership in Green and Transparent Mining
CM Patel noted that Gujarat has aligned with the national vision by adopting green mining practices, scientific land reclamation, and technology-driven monitoring systems. The state, rich in mineral resources such as lignite, limestone, and bauxite, has implemented real-time GPS vehicle tracking systems for mineral transport, establishing its mining operations as a model of transparency and rule-based governance.
The Chief Minister reiterated Gujarat’s commitment to national objectives such as Vocal for Local, Aatmanirbhar Bharat, and Developed India@2047, highlighting the state’s proactive role in contributing to these goals.
Central Leadership and National Participation
The event saw participation from Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, who described the mining sector as a pillar of economic growth, crucial for achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047. He lauded Gujarat’s development model as a benchmark for other states, fostering competition and innovation in investment and industrial growth.
Other dignitaries addressing the conclave included Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil and Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines Satish Chandra Dubey. Senior officials from the Ministry of Coal and Mines, Gujarat government, and mining industry experts were also in attendance. Ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Nagaland participated, along with key administrators including Mining Additional Chief Secretary Mamta Verma.
