Ahmedabad: Significant development projects worth Rs 97.36 crore were inaugurated and laid in the Nikol area of Ahmedabad on Thursday. The event highlighted key facilities, including a newly constructed 30-bed hospital aimed at enhancing healthcare services in the region.
The ceremony took place at the Viratnagar Community Health Center in East Ahmedabad and was chaired by Jagdish Vishwakarma, Gujarat BJP president and Nikol MLA. A total of 31 development projects under the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) were officially launched during the event.
30-Bed Hospital Becomes Key Highlight
One of the major projects unveiled was a 30-bed hospital built at a cost of over Rs 10.91 crore. According to Vishwakarma, the facility was completed within 15 months and is staffed with 11 super-specialty doctors.
The hospital offers 43 types of free diagnostic tests, including sonography and X-ray services, catering to the healthcare needs of the local population.
MLA Highlights Ongoing Development Work
Addressing the gathering, Vishwakarma praised the development model promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that it ensures benefits reach all sections of society. He contrasted this with the Congress party, stating that while it makes promises during elections, it fails to complete projects.
“Congress only makes promises to gain votes. For 75 years, people received assurances but little action. The BJP not only lays foundations but also inaugurates projects once completed,” Vishwakarma said.
Major Infrastructure and Public Amenities
Vishwakarma also highlighted development work undertaken in his constituency since he took office as Nikol MLA, with projects totaling over Rs 1,000 crore. Key completed projects include:
- Vishwakarma Bridge
- Lakshman Bridge
- Shabri Vatika
- Lav-Kush Lake
- Shri Ram Party Plot
He also announced the upcoming construction of a modern e-library in Viratnagar to further improve public amenities.
Upcoming Projects and Investments
Looking ahead, Vishwakarma revealed plans for a modern hospital in East Ahmedabad, estimated to cost around Rs 700 crore, with Rs 50 crore already allocated in the current municipal budget.
Additionally, the Kharikat Canal project in the eastern region has been completed at a cost of approximately Rs 1,200 crore, and over 450 government schemes are benefitting various segments of society.
“Elected representatives and party workers are continuously working to resolve public issues and improve the welfare of residents,” Vishwakarma added.
