Gandhinagar, Gujarat: The Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) has been honoured with the Best Community Impact Project Award by the India Water Foundation (IWF) for its Integrated Command and Control Centre, which monitors sewer network cleaning operations across 156 municipalities in Gujarat. The award highlights GUDM’s contribution to enhancing civic amenities, improving infrastructure, and promoting sustainable urban development under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
Integrated Command & Control Centre Strengthens Sewer Management
Under the supervision of Kanubhai Desai, Minister of Urban Development and Urban Housing, GUDM established the Integrated Command and Control Centre to monitor and maintain municipal sewer networks efficiently. Key achievements of this initiative include:
- Improved sewer system upkeep across 156 municipalities
- Enhanced monitoring of cleaning operations using technological integration
- Water reuse initiatives, saving lakhs of litres
- Contribution to environmentally sustainable urban development
This centre ensures real-time tracking and data-driven decision-making, significantly improving the maintenance of urban infrastructure and enhancing citizen well-being.
Recognition at the Water Transversality Global Awards
The Jury Award for the Best Community Impact Project will be presented to GUDM at the Water Transversality Global Awards and Conclave 2026 in New Delhi on March 6–7. The award underscores the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable urban solutions and its impact on communities.
Gujarat’s Push for Investment in Semiconductor and Chemical Sectors
Separately, CM Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the Gujarat Semi Connect Conference 2026, engaging in one-to-one meetings with industry leaders and investors. Key focus areas discussed include:
- Establishing R&D centres for semiconductors
- Developing memory module facilities
- Setting up power chip manufacturing units
- Expanding speciality chemical facilities
The Chief Minister highlighted Gujarat’s proactive ecosystem for semiconductor industries, with special emphasis on Dholera and Sanand regions. The government’s efforts aim to attract both national and international investments, strengthening Gujarat as a hub for advanced technology and manufacturing.
