Mumbai: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has awarded a ₹66 crore order to Centum Electronics Limited for the design and development of Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar Systems for the Utility Helicopter–Maritime (UH-M) platform. The announcement was made under SEBI regulations to NSE (CENTUM) and BSE (517544).
Phase-1 Order: Design and Development
The Phase-1 contract covers the design and development of AESA radar systems over the next two financial years.
- Order Value: ₹66 crore
- Gross Value (including GST): ₹78 crore
The AESA radar will enable UH-M helicopters to detect, classify, and track multiple maritime targets, significantly enhancing maritime surveillance and operational capabilities.
Phase-2 Could Unlock ₹500 Crore Production Opportunity
Following successful execution of Phase-1, Phase-2 is expected to include serial production and supply over five years, with:
- Indicative Value: ₹500 crore
- Gross Value (including GST): ₹590 crore
If fully executed, the total programme could exceed ₹566 crore (excluding GST), making it a major long-term opportunity for Centum Electronics.
Strategic Importance of the AESA Radar Programme
This contract highlights HAL’s push for advanced indigenous defence technologies and strengthens Centum’s capabilities in system-level radar design, development, and high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
The programme further consolidates the long-standing collaboration between HAL and Centum in mission-critical aerospace and defence electronics.
