In a significant administrative overhaul, the Haryana government has transferred 44 IAS officers, marking the first major reshuffle since the formation of the new government in the state. The reshuffle, which took place late on Sunday, December 1, aims to bring in fresh leadership to various departments and strengthen the administration across the state.
Among the most notable appointments, 1990 batch IAS officer Anurag Rastogi has been entrusted with the critical responsibility of Finance Commissioner Revenue (FCR), in addition to overseeing the Finance and Disaster Management departments.
In another significant change, 1990 batch IAS officer Sumita Mishra has been appointed as the new Home Secretary. The Home Ministry remains under the direct control of Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini.
Meanwhile, Mr Sudhir Rajpal, also an IAS officer of 1990 batch, has been assigned the dual role of Additional Chief Secretary for the Medical Education Research and AYUSH Department, alongside responsibilities for the Health and Aviation departments.
Key Departmental Changes
- Transport Department: 1991 batch IAS officer Ashok Khemka has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department, taking over from Anil Vij’s portfolio.
- Industries and Commerce: IAS D. Suresh has been appointed as the Resident Commissioner of Haryana Bhawan in New Delhi. Additionally, he will serve as the Principal Secretary of both the Industries and Commerce departments.
- Urban Development and Aviation: IAS Shyamal Mishra has been assigned multiple roles, including Chief Administrator of the Haryana Trade Fair Authority, CEO of the Faridabad and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authorities, and Principal Secretary of the Civil Aviation Department.
Other Key Transfers
- Sauji Rajni Kanthan will take over as the Transport Commissioner.
- Phoolchand Meena has been appointed as the Commissioner of Ambala Division.
- A. Shri Niwas will serve as the Commissioner of Hisar Division and Managing Director of the South Haryana Electricity Corporation.
- Anand Mohan Sharan will oversee the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, as well as the Environment, Forest and Wildlife Department.
- Vineet Garg has been given the charge of Chairman of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board, along with the Higher Education Department.
Additional noteworthy appointments include:
- Amit Kumar Agarwal as the Commissioner and Secretary of the Development and Panchayat Department, Information, Public Relations, Language and Culture Department, and the Foreign Department.
- Rajiv Ranjan has been appointed Principal Secretary of Fisheries and Labor Departments.
- Vijay Singh Dahiya will take charge of the Printing Department and Animal Husbandry Department.
- Amneet P Kumar has been given the responsibility of the Women and Child Development Department and Archives Department.
Transfers in Social Welfare and Sports
- Ashima Barar, previously part of the Haryana Chief Minister’s office, has now been appointed as Commissioner of Social Justice, Empowerment, Scheduled Caste and Backward Class Welfare. She will also oversee Antyodaya, Excise and Taxation, and serve as the Managing Director of Haryana Electricity Transmission Corporation.
- Sanjeev Verma will take over as Director of Sports, AYUSH, and Foreign Cooperation Department.
- Mohammad Sain has been appointed Commissioner and Secretary of the Public Health Engineering Department.
