In a major push to establish Asia’s largest jungle safari in Haryana, the design for the first phase of the ambitious 10,000-acre project has been finalised by the Forest Department and presented to key Union and State ministers. The safari, spread across Gurgaon and Nuh districts, is set to become a world-class conservation and tourism destination, modeled on Sharjah Safari, Vantara in Jamnagar, and Gujarat’s Gir Sanctuary.
Ministers Inspect Site, Approve Phase-I Blueprint
Union Housing and Urban Affairs and Energy Minister Mr. Manohar Lal and Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Mr. Bhupendra Yadav reviewed the design and also inspected the proposed site near Sakatpur village on Saturday. Haryana Forest, Environment and Wildlife Minister Mr. Rao Narbir Singh shared that four main entry gates will be constructed—at Sohna, Tawadu-Sohna Road, Naurangpur, and Sakatpur—to facilitate smooth access.
Tourism and Ecology to Benefit
Mr. Manohar Lal emphasized that the project would significantly enhance tourism while conserving the natural beauty, biodiversity, and historical legacy of the Aravalli range. In Phase I, international-standard infrastructure will be developed over 2,500 acres.
Union Minister Mr. Bhupendra Yadav assured full support from the Centre, highlighting that the safari will focus on preserving native ecology. Local plant species will be cultivated to foster a thriving wildlife ecosystem.
High-Level Officials Present
The high-level review meeting and site inspection were also attended by Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan (!990-batch IAS officer), PCCF Mr. Vineet Garg, Vivek Saxena (1991-batch IFS officer), Atul J. Siskar, Forest Corporation MD Mr. K.C.
