In a significant reshuffle in the Himachal Pradesh police department, the state government has transferred 15 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 62 Himachal Pradesh Police Service (HPPS) officers, including Superintendents of Police (SPs) of four administrative districts and two police districts.
The official notification of the transfers was issued by the officiating Chief Secretary, Sanjay Gupta.

Historic Appointment of Six HPS Officers as SPs
For the first time, six HPS officers have been appointed as SPs in districts simultaneously. The Sukhu government has taken this significant step to promote non-IPS officers of Himachal origin as district heads, reassuring the local police cadre. Previously, such appointments between 2014 and 2017, like DW Negi’s posting as SP Shimla, had caused friction within the IPS lobby.
