New Delhi: The Government of India has approved the extension of tenure for two senior officers currently serving on central deputation, as per the latest notifications issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
Dr. Himanshu Roy’s Tenure Extended in Department of Pharmaceuticals
The tenure of Dr. Himanshu Roy (IRS IT: 2011), Director in the Department of Pharmaceuticals, has been extended for a period of three months beyond October 15, 2025, and up to January 15, 2026.
Dr. Roy has been on central deputation since September 5, 2023, and has been instrumental in supporting key policy initiatives under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. His extended tenure ensures continuity in ongoing projects related to the pharmaceutical sector’s policy framework and industry facilitation.
Smita Srivastava Gets One-Year Extension in Higher Education Department
The tenure of Smita Srivastava (IRSEE: 1997), Joint Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, has been extended for a further period of one year beyond July 29, 2025.
Srivastava, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE), has been leading initiatives in the higher education sector, particularly in digital learning, research enhancement, and institutional reforms under the Ministry of Education.
The extensions are part of the government’s routine administrative decisions aimed at maintaining continuity in policy execution and project implementation. Both officers are associated with sectors of national importance — pharmaceuticals and higher education — which have seen major reform initiatives in recent years.
