New Delhi: Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) participated in the National Defence Industry Conclave 2026, held on March 19–20 at the Manekshaw Centre. The conclave served as a premier platform bringing together defence leaders, policymakers, industry stakeholders, and MSMEs to strengthen India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

HSL’s presence at the event underlined its commitment to boosting indigenous defence production and fostering collaboration across the sector.

Strong Engagement with MSMEs and Vendors

The HSL booth attracted significant attention, witnessing strong footfall from vendors and MSMEs from across the country. The interactions led to meaningful discussions and opened up new avenues for strategic partnerships in both ongoing and upcoming projects.

The conclave provided an opportunity for HSL to deepen its engagement with the supply chain ecosystem and promote inclusive growth by encouraging MSME participation in defence manufacturing.

Leadership Interaction Strengthens Industry Connect

HSL’s Chairman & Managing Director, G. Venkateswarlu, along with senior officials, actively interacted with stakeholders during the event. Their engagement reinforced HSL’s industry relationships and highlighted its forward-looking approach to collaboration and innovation.

The leadership team emphasized the importance of partnerships in achieving self-reliance in defence production under India’s broader strategic vision.

The HSL booth was also visited by Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence. During the visit, HSL showcased its initiatives to expand vendor participation and discussed future collaboration opportunities with stakeholders.

The interaction highlighted the government’s continued focus on strengthening the domestic defence industrial base.

Focus on Defence MRO and Collaboration Opportunities

HSL contributed to key technical sessions at the conclave, sharing insights into emerging trends and opportunities in the sector.

  • Rohit Gaur highlighted the importance of Defence MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) and lifecycle support, along with the growing role of MSMEs.
  • Sadasiva Rao emphasized collaboration opportunities in shipbuilding, modular construction, refits, upgrades, and export platforms.

These sessions underscored HSL’s technical expertise and its vision for expanding capabilities in both domestic and global markets.

Boosting India’s Defence Manufacturing Ecosystem

The conclave served as a catalyst for strengthening collaboration between public sector enterprises like HSL, private industry, and MSMEs. HSL’s participation reflects its strategic role in advancing India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem and contributing to the country’s self-reliance goals.
