New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Mr. Chandrasekharan Raghuram for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), a Schedule B public sector undertaking. The recommendation was made during PESB Meeting No. 6 of 2026 held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Mr. Raghuram currently serves as Assistant Chief of Material in the Indian Navy and was selected after a rigorous interview process involving senior executives from various public sector enterprises and government organisations.

Selection Process and Interview Highlights

The PESB conducted interviews to fill the top executive position at Hindustan Shipyard Limited. A total of 11 candidates were interviewed, representing several leading PSUs and government bodies.

  • Mr. Shailendra Kumar & Mr. Niroj Kumar Sharma – Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL)
  • Mr. Vivek Kumar – Cement Corporation of India Limited
  • Commander Ajay Zadoo – Central Warehousing Corporation
  • Mr. Himangshu Chakrabarty – THDC India Limited
  • Mr. Tarun Kumar Chopra – Indian Oil Corporation Limited
  • Rear Admiral T V N Prasanna – National Security Council Secretariat

Following detailed interviews and evaluation, Mr. Chandrasekharan Raghuram was recommended as the most suitable candidate for the CMD position, based on leadership credentials, experience, and overall suitability according to standard government selection norms.

Next Steps for Appointment

The final appointment of Mr. Raghuram as CMD of Hindustan Shipyard Limited will be subject to further government approvals, in line with established procedures for PSU leadership appointments.
