Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), one of India’s leading integrated oil refining and marketing companies, has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Abu Dhabi Gas Liquefaction Company (ALNG), a subsidiary of ADNOC Gas, for the long-term supply of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) over a 10-year period.
ADNOC Gas is a globally integrated gas company operating across the full gas value chain. The LNG supplied under this agreement will be received at HPCL’s recently commissioned Chhara LNG terminal in Gujarat. The imported gas will cater to HPCL’s own refining needs, city gas distribution networks, and downstream customers across India.
This strategic partnership aligns with HPCL’s objective to create a balanced and reliable LNG portfolio, combining long-term and short-term contracts. It also enhances HPCL’s ability to serve customers at competitive prices in a growing and dynamic natural gas market.
Major Boost to Energy Security and Clean Energy Transition

The deal is being hailed as a significant step toward India’s long-term energy security and cleaner energy goals. It underlines HPCL’s and India’s commitment to increasing the share of natural gas in the national energy mix, amidst a globally volatile energy market. Long-term agreements like this play a crucial role in ensuring reliable, affordable, and secure energy supplies.
