Mr. Sanjay Kulshrestha, Chairman and Managing Director of HUDCO, led the initiative, advocating for the integration of environmental values into urban development. Addressing employees during a plantation drive in New Delhi, Mr. Kulshrestha stated, “Every day should be celebrated as Environment Day to instill the value of environmentally responsible behavior.” He encouraged citizens and employees to reduce dependence on single-use plastics and adopt sustainable lifestyle choices rooted in circular economy principles.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior management, employees, and local communities in various cities. In a symbolic move to promote renewable energy and personal environmental responsibility, each HUDCO employee was gifted a sapling and a solar lamp. The drive not only focused on greening urban spaces but also reflected HUDCO’s broader mission to align urban growth with net-zero emissions and biodiversity conservation goals.

This year’s Environment Day theme holds particular relevance for India, where urban centers continue to face escalating plastic waste and environmental degradation. HUDCO’s initiatives serve as a clarion call for collective action against pollution, demonstrating how public sector enterprises can take a lead role in advancing the national sustainability agenda.

Through its blend of grassroots engagement and climate-conscious action, HUDCO is showcasing how localized efforts can contribute to global environmental change. Its commitment to eco-friendly infrastructure and sustainable urbanization cements HUDCO’s role as a vital player in India’s quest for a greener, more resilient future.
