New Delhi: Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has reaffirmed its commitment to community development by signing four major Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. These initiatives are designed to address critical social issues, including malnutrition, women’s education, accessibility for Divyangjan, and healthcare strengthening, reflecting HURL’s holistic approach to inclusive growth and social welfare.
Project POSHAN: Combating Malnutrition Among Women
HURL has partnered with Parichay Foundation to launch Project POSHAN, a targeted initiative to improve the nutritional status of underprivileged women in Raghunathpur and Patia, Bhubaneswar.
- Beneficiaries: 190 women
- Support Provided: Nutrition packages, essential supplements, medical check-ups, and personalised guidance from trained nutritionists
- Activities: Structured awareness sessions, follow-ups to improve haemoglobin levels, BMI, and overall health outcomes
This initiative seeks to empower women with improved health, directly contributing to community well-being and sustainable development.
Project AASHIYANA: Safe Residential Support for Girls
Focusing on women’s education and empowerment, HURL has signed an MoU with The Kalgidhar Trust to construct a two-storey Girls’ Hostel at Eternal University, Baru Sahib (Himachal Pradesh).
- Facility: 14 rooms housing 42 students
- Features: Safe accommodation, hygiene amenities, and shared study spaces
- Impact: Enables young women from rural and underserved backgrounds to pursue higher education in a secure environment, removing geographical and socio-economic barriers
Project AASHIYANA reflects HURL’s commitment to gender equality and educational access, empowering girls to achieve academic and personal growth.
Project SWASTHYA SATHI: Assistive Devices for Divyangjan & Elderly
In collaboration with ALIMCO, HURL has launched Project Swasthya Sathi to improve mobility and accessibility for Divyangjan and senior citizens near HURL units in Gorakhpur, Barauni, and Sindri.
- Beneficiaries: Nearly 7,500 individuals over one year
- Support Provided: Prosthetic limbs, wheelchairs, tricycles, walkers, hearing aids, spectacles, and other assistive devices
- Objective: Promote independence, dignity, and social inclusion for differently-abled and elderly individuals
This initiative underscores HURL’s focus on enhancing quality of life and social equity for vulnerable communities.
Project SEHAT SATHI: Strengthening Primary Healthcare Systems
HURL, in partnership with HLFPPT, has launched Project Sehat Sathi to upgrade primary healthcare infrastructure across Gorakhpur, Barauni, and Sindri.
- Focus Areas: PHC/CHC/HWC facility upgrades, advanced diagnostic equipment (ultrasound, phaco machines), maternal health services, skill development for medical staff
- Additional Services: Family planning interventions, ANC check-ups, behaviour change programs, and wheelchair distribution
- Impact: Estimated 50,000 beneficiaries, aligned with national quality frameworks including Kayakalp, NQAS, and LaQshya
