It’s a proud moment for Bihar’s Begusarai district, especially for the village of Manjhaul, as its native son, IAS officer Alok Kumar, has been appointed the Additional Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. Alok hails from Mathuramal Tola in Manjhaul Panchayat and is known for his decades-long, distinguished career in the Indian Administrative Service.
Speaking after the appointment, Alok Kumar expressed heartfelt gratitude:
“Today, as I take on this new responsibility, I thank my colleagues, friends, family, the people of Begusarai, and my native village. It’s been 32 years since I joined the civil services, and every step has been filled with challenges and learning.”
He further added that this promotion is not just a personal achievement but a greater responsibility to serve the people of Uttar Pradesh and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
Many dignitaries and public figures extended their congratulations, including Union Minister Giriraj Singh, former minister Ramjivan Singh, former Rajya Sabha MP Rakesh Sinha, MLC Sarvesh Kumar, MLA Kundan Singh, former MLA Anil Chaudhary, and student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who described Alok as “an inspiration and an ideal for youth.”
In a symbolic gesture, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath personally felicitated Alok Kumar, marking the beginning of a new chapter in a career dedicated to public service.
