New Delhi: The governments of Gujarat and Goa have announced significant administrative changes involving two senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers, reflecting ongoing efforts to optimize governance and policy implementation in their respective states.

Ashwani Kumar Transferred to Sports, Youth & Cultural Activities Department

Ashwani Kumar IAS, a 1997 Gujarat cadre officer currently serving as Principal Secretary of the Urban Development & Urban Housing Department, has been transferred and appointed as Principal Secretary of the Sports, Youth & Cultural Activities Department, Gujarat. Alongside this new role, he has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Principal Secretary of the Legislative & Parliamentary Affairs Department.

This reassignment places Kumar in charge of two crucial departments, where he is expected to bring his administrative expertise to enhance the development of sports and youth initiatives, as well as to manage legislative affairs with a focus on strengthening parliamentary processes in the state.

Ankita Mishra Gets Addl Charge of Commissioner of Excise, Goa

In Goa, Ankita Mishra IAS (AGMUT 2018 batch), who is currently serving as Special Secretary in the Revenue Department, has been given the additional responsibility of Commissioner of Excise. This appointment signifies the government’s trust in her capabilities to oversee critical functions related to excise administration in the state, a sector vital to regulatory enforcement and revenue generation.

Administrative Realignments to Strengthen Governance
Both appointments reflect the ongoing administrative reshuffling aimed at deploying skilled officers to departments where their expertise can be maximized for the benefit of state governance and public welfare.
