Baghpat, UP: In a remarkable gesture of humanity, Asmita Lal, IAS, District Magistrate of Baghpat, has pledged to donate her eyes after death. She is the first collector in Uttar Pradesh to publicly promote eye donation, aiming to raise awareness among the public about the importance of organ donation.
A Message of Hope and Humanity
Speaking on the pledge, DM Asmita Lal said, “There is no greater donation than allowing my eyes to brighten someone else’s life.”
Through this initiative, she hopes to encourage citizens to come forward for eye donation and contribute to saving lives and improving vision for those in need.
About Asmita Lal
Ms Lal is a 2015-batch IAS officer from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, currently serving as the 31st District Magistrate (Collector) of Baghpat. She has a strong academic and professional background:
Education: B.A. in Psychology from the University of Mumbai, M.A. in Public Policy and Management (specializing in Public Management) from JNU
