New Delhi: The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday announced two key appointments in the Department of School Education & Literacy, Delhi, under the Central Staffing Scheme.
The appointments include senior officials from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Police Service (IPS).
Bhagwati Prasad Kalal Appointed Director
In a significant move, 2011 batch IAS officer of Rajasthan cadre, Mr Bhagwati Prasad Kalal has been appointed as Director in the Department of School Education & Literacy, Delhi. The appointment has been approved for a tenure of five years, commencing from the date he assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Mr Kalal, an experienced officer of the Rajasthan cadre, is expected to bring his expertise in governance and public administration to the department, which plays a crucial role in shaping educational policies and promoting literacy across Delhi.
Shalini Agnihotri Appointed Deputy Secretary
In another key development, 2012 batch IPS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre, Ms Shalini Agnihotri, who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been selected for the position of Deputy Secretary in the Department of School Education & Literacy, Delhi. Her appointment is also made under the Central Staffing Scheme, with a tenure of four years, effective from the date of assuming charge.

Ms Agnihotri’s role is expected to significantly enhance the department’s efforts in managing and improving educational systems, especially in the areas of school governance and policy execution. Known for her leadership and management skills, Agnihotri’s expertise in security and administration will likely complement the department’s ongoing projects.
