In a bid to uphold public health and hygiene during religious gatherings, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District Collector Dilip Swami (IAS) has directed stringent inspections of food stalls operating at pilgrimage and religious sites. The initiative is being carried out in coordination with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) department, ensuring that all food items provided to devotees are certified, hygienic, and safe for consumption.
Special teams have been deployed across high-footfall areas such as temples, religious fairs, and community festivals to monitor the quality and safety of food being sold. Collector Swami emphasized that religious faith must not be compromised by negligence in food safety and that vendors must strictly adhere to the guidelines laid down by the FDA. Swift action is being taken against those flouting norms.

Dilip Swami is a 2013-batch IAS officer known for his proactive governance and grassroots-oriented administrative approach. Before assuming charge in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, he served in various capacities including CEO of the Akola Zilla Parishad and Joint Commissioner in the Tribal Development Department, where he was recognized for his impactful work in rural development and tribal welfare.
Under his leadership, the district administration has prioritized cleanliness, citizen safety, and health compliance during large gatherings. His commitment to on-ground inspection, especially in sensitive and crowded locations, has earned him appreciation from both citizens and state officials.
This food safety drive is expected to bring about lasting discipline among vendors and provide safer experiences for thousands of pilgrims.
