Jaipur: In a significant administrative development, the Department of Personnel and Training (DOPT), Government of India, has officially promoted four officers from non-State civil services to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) cadre of Rajasthan. This move, seen as part of the Bhajanlal government’s administrative strengthening efforts, brings new faces into the state’s top bureaucratic setup.

Names of New IAS Officers Announced

According to the official notification released by DOPT, the following officers have been inducted into the IAS from other civil services:

  • Dr. Nitesh Sharma (Statistical Service)
  • Amita Sharma (Accounts Service)
  • Narendra Kumar Manghani
  • Naresh Kumar Goyal

The promotion of these officers comes under the 2022 IAS vacancies, and their appointment follows approval from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the State Government.

Promotion Process Cleared After Court Green Signal

The appointments were part of a long-pending selection process for the 2023 and 2024 IAS vacancies. Legal hurdles had delayed the promotions, but recent decisions by the Supreme Court and High Court paved the way for the final process to move forward.

Out of 55 applicants, 20 officers were shortlisted after scrutiny. The final interviews were conducted on July 23–24 in New Delhi, and four officers were selected based on merit and service record.

Officers Will Serve on Probation Before Final Posting

All four promoted officers will initially serve on probation, and the state government is expected to issue fresh postings for them soon. Their transition from allied services to the IAS is seen as an elevation of administrative talent with proven track records.

Background of Dr. Nitesh Sharma

Among the newly appointed officers, Dr. Nitesh Sharma has a notable administrative history. He is currently serving as Director (Statistics) in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Before this, he held the position of Director, Program Monitoring in the Chief Secretary’s Office for six years, bringing in-depth experience in governance and statistical planning
