Chandigarh: In a major relief to senior bureaucrat Jaibir Singh Arya (IAS: 2009: HY), a Panchkula court has discharged him from a corruption case after the Haryana Government refused to grant prosecution sanction against him.
The case was linked to allegations of bribery in exchange for a favourable posting within the Haryana State Warehousing Corporation (HSWC).
Bribery Allegation Filed by Kurukshetra Resident
The matter originated when Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Kurukshetra, approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau—now known as the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau—claiming that a bribe was being demanded in connection with the posting of his wife, Rinku, who served as Assistant Manager (Quality Control) at HSWC.
According to the complaint, the alleged bribe was sought to secure a favourable posting for her within the corporation.
Arya Had Declined the Posting Request
At the time of the alleged incident, Jaibir Singh Arya was serving as the Managing Director (MD) of HSWC.
Sources indicate that Arya had declined the request regarding Rinku’s posting, and no evidence of demand or acceptance of bribe could be substantiated.
Due to the Haryana Government’s refusal to authorize prosecution, the court discharged Arya, bringing the case to a close.
Significant Relief for the IAS Officer
The court’s decision marks a significant development in the case, which had cast a shadow on the career of the 2009-batch IAS officer. With the discharge order, Arya stands cleared of the allegations, allowing him to continue his service record without the cloud of the corruption complaint.
