2009 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, Mr. Amarnath Talwade, who is now posted in Arunachal Pradesh,, will face legal action as Lieutenant governor (LG) VK Saxena on Friday ordered the anti-corruption branch (ACB) to register a first information report (FIR) against him.
He had allegedly asked his subordinate to collect money from retail liquor vendors during his tenure at a Delhi government’s corporation in 2015-16.
The LG has also recommended to the ministry of home affairs to take disciplinary action against Mr. Talwade.
A statement issued from the LG office stated that this exposes the deep nexus between the AAP government and liquor barons in the alleged liquor scam in Delhi, in which former Delhi Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and AAP MP Sanjay Singh are also involved. After testing in Delhi FSL Lab, it was proved that there was no tampering with that audio clip.
The officials said that the action was ordered on the basis of a complaint filed with the directorate of vigilance (DoV) by a Noida resident in March 2023.
The complainant submitted a pen drive with an audio recording of a purported conversation between an IAS officer and an inspector, in which, the officials claimed, Talwade was pressuring a subordinate to collect money from retail liquor vendors.
