Senior bureaucrat Tuhin Kanta Pandey (1987-batch IAS officer) has taken charge as Revenue Secretary in the Ministry of Finance. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved his appointment on Wednesday, adding this key portfolio to his existing role as Finance Secretary, which he has held since September 2024.
Previously, Pandey managed the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) and the Department of Public Enterprises (DPE). With his new responsibilities, he oversees the Department of Revenue, a critical arm of the Finance Ministry, which also includes Economic Affairs, Expenditure, Financial Services, DIPAM, and DPE.
Pandey’s extensive administrative experience spans pivotal roles at both Union and state levels. Nationally, he has served as Joint Secretary in the Planning Commission (now NITI Aayog), the Cabinet Secretariat, and the Commerce Ministry. In Odisha, he led departments such as Health, Finance, Commercial Taxes, and Transport, and held leadership positions in state enterprises like Odisha Small Industries Corporation.
Additionally, Pandey’s international tenure with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) enriched his expertise in industrial development and global policy frameworks.
