Mr. Deepak Kumar, a senior IAS officer, has been named as ACS of the Uttar Pradesh Home Department. He will take over the responsibilities from IAS Sanjay Prasad. Mr. Kumar, a 1990-batch IAS officer, is the current head of the Finance Department. He will now lead the Home Department. Mr. Sanjay Prasad was removed late last night by order of the Election Commission.
Mr. Deepak Kumar is currently posted as ACS, Basic Education Department, UP Government, ARC, UP, Secondary Education Department, Finance Department, Finance Commissioner Institutional Finance, and Externally Aided Project Department. He has also served as the Magistrate and Collector of Jalaun, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Firozabad, and Pauri Garhwal.
To create a level playing field in the Lok Sabha polls, the Election Commission on Monday removed the home secretaries of Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
The commission also ordered Mr. Rajeev Kumar, the West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP), to be removed. Along with this, Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh’s General Administration Department secretaries were also removed.
