2012 batch IAS officer of AGMUT cadre, Mr. Himanshu Gupta, has been made the new Secretary of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The board works under the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education.
Mr. Gupta is currently serving as Director (Education) in the Department of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. He will be relieved from his duties immediately and will take up his new assignment soon.
According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Gupta has been appointed to the post for four years with effect from the date of taking over charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Gupta completed his schooling from Shivalik Doon School and Kundan Vidya Mandir Civil Lines with distinction. Then, he completed his engineering from IIT Delhi.
He has held key positions in various assignments throughout his career.
His contributions range from establishing the first Citizen Facilitation Center in SDM Office during his tenure as SDM Najafgarh, Delhi, to upgrading Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Tissa and establishing mobile network connectivity in the NSCN insurgency-prone district while serving as Deputy Commissioner in Longding District, Arunachal Pradesh.
As Secretary Planning, Information and Public Relations Department, and Special Secretary Chief Minister Office, Arunachal Pradesh, he played a pivotal role in the preparation of the state budget and the initiation of key schemes such as the Arunachal Rising Campaign and the Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Program.
