The governor of Andhra Pradesh Biswabhushan Harichandan, recently released an official statement to appoint Nilam Sawhney (IAS 1984-Batch), the former Chief Secretary, as the State Election Commissioner (SEC).
Ms. Sawhney retired from her previous post in December 2020. Following her retirement, she was posted as the principal advisor to the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
The newly appointed officer will be taking over the newly appointed charge of March 31 when the incumbent SEC Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar leaves the office.
